World Series Wrestling “Phoenix Rising” Results (Day 1) From July 8, 2022: Two New Champions Crowned

WSW Kicks Off 2022 Tour

WSW results from Adelaide, Australia at The Oval on 7/8/22 live on FITE:

This is the first WSW tour in three years because of the virus pandemic.

Chelsea Green and Internet Champion Matt Cardona came out to the ring to cut a promo. Green will face Tenille Dashwood and Taya Valkyrie in a 3-Way Match later in the show for the vacant WSW Women's Title. She said she will win the title and take it home so Australian fans will never see her defend it ever. Cardona said he came to the show to be the new WSW Champion but he has a "life threatening injury" and can't wrestle now.

Mick Moretti pinned Trey Miguel after a double stomp to the back of the head.

Taya Valkyrie won a 3-Way Match over Tenille Dashwood and Chelsea Green (with Matt Cardona) to become the new WSW Women's Champion after the Road to Valhalla when Green accidentally hit Cardona in the face with the title belt. Dashwood was about to pin Green but Cardona put Green's leg on the ropes from outside the ring. Indi Hartwell was the last champion and she is now in NXT.

Buddy Matthews pinned Alex Zayne after a pump handle slam.

WSW Tag Team Champions Brian Cage and Flip Gordon defeated The Parea (Eli Theseus and Gabriel Aeros) when Gordon pinned Aeros after a spiked Drill Claw double team finisher.

Hammerstone pinned Chris Basso after the Nightmare Pendulum.

Johnny Downunder (John Hennigan) pinned Joey Janela to win the vacant WSW World Title after Starship Pain with a piece of a broken door over Janela. Hennigan came out to the 1981 classic hit "Down Under" by Men At Work as his theme music. Marty Scurll was the last champion but he has become persona non grata in most places after the Speaking Out movement in pro wrestling a couple of years ago.
